I still use plain old grocery store dry powdered fruit pectin, found in the canning section. Mix with just enough cool/room temp distilled water(same spray bottle I use when re-casing leaf)until it looks moist, let it sit a few minutes and stir , add a small spritz until it becomes the consistency of snot. I only make enough to use when I'm rolling ,which is only about 1/2 tsp of dry pectin per about 6 cigars. no smell , no taste and no funny color .

Are you saying there's no odd taste in the cigars rolled with pectin or there's no odd taste in the pectin itself ?

Have you put your finger in the solution of pectin and tasted it directly? No sense of bitterness coming through?

I did a google search for cigar glue a couple of months ago , to se what other use and maybe find something usefull .
What i could find ,and also find here at fairtrade forum , use the professional cigarmakers a glue called "bermocoll 320"
The search for bermocoll started , infact i find out that the world biggest producer was swedish
https://www.akzonobel.com/Search.aspx?q=bermocoll
A further investigation for the intended use for bermocoll was wallpaper glue , and that i could find in my local willage .
Said and done , wallpaper glue was bought and used for the last months , so far, it works better than i thought and no flavouring and other drawbacks was detected , exept maybe a wery sticky properties , and forced me to keep my fingers clean between each cigar
What do the experts here think about that idea , anyone tried it before and have better insights

I have been using Bermocoll for the last 6 month now and absolutely love it. Work's great you don't need much and no flavor or taste left .

Hey, I bought some of this stuff (Bermocoll 320). Can you suggest how you prepare it for glue? I've got a bag of the white powder.

Thanks!

I use 2 teaspoons to about 3-4 oz of water, then slowly add water to get it to the consistency I like. Use distilled water of course, I have yet to refrigerate this and just leave it in a small sealed Tupperware container on my bench, no mold either.

Thanks. You don't heat the water? Just cold?

OK...when I started here, I was directed all over the place...in regards to cigar glue!

That's ok...as we all have an opinion and different tastes...

Nonetheless, I had (early on) ordered sugar free fruit pectin and have been using it since...on the small amount of cigars that I have rolled. So far, no taste issues at all, it worked perfectly and its not even "gone bad" on the cigars that went into my wineador. In short, it works perfectly for me...

But I do intend to switch some day, if I continue to enjoy rolling...as I want the Guar Gum, or the like. Why, for "old school" reasons...

So, back to what I first wrote here...this is a great (& needed) thread!
Any recepie would be great!

You might want to mix a small amount , just enough for your rolling session, so it's nice and fresh each time. It takes just a minute to mix it up.
I found this had a tendency to get moldy pretty quickly even when refrigerated.

My search ended when I found gum Tragacanth. I use a very small amount and the one jar will last for years so it actually ended up being the least expensive. Order on the internet and it will be delivered to your door.

Some of the glues I used were rather weak and had the cap come lose from saliva wetting and breaking the bond. ( I hate when that happens)

Odorless, tasteless, colorless and stronger than any other glue I've tried. Been used by professionals for many years. Never had a cap come off. (It's ten times stronger than gum Arabic in laboratory tests)

i was looking for guar gum, wound up with the xanthan gum. about a LB of it....i mixed a half teaspoon with water, wound up with about 1 fl.oz of glue, i rolled 10 garos, and could have diluted to 10 fl.oz. i threw out the rest, there was enough glue there for about 1000 cigars! no reports on longevity, i just rolled 'em yesterday!
