Curious. I wonder if "graft" really means "graft". What stalk grafted onto the root of what? That should require a single season. Could it be a hybridization?

T13 sounds like a Mexican gang. What are you planning to call it?

My translation is that it is a cross between Piloto and Criollo.

It seems that the original Spanish was fed into Google Translate. That's how we get "sheets" for leaves. But I don't know how one could end up with cross (hybrid) from "graft", when starting in Spanish. And why 13 years?

I say, it has been in developed with the tobacco institute of the Dominican Republic for 13 years. A native Cuban Piloto Cubano originally grafted to a Criollo 98 plant. T -13

I've never heard of grafting tobacco. How would that effect the daughter product?

Wes H.

Exactly. How would grafting affect anything? I mean, I've read something along the lines of chloroplasts can migrate through grafts in both directions. Something like that.

But it could be a translation thing. Look. Even the thesaurus puts hybridization under the word graft.

graft [ graft, grahft ]
Main Entry: graft
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: transplant
Synonyms: bud*, hybridization, implant, jointure, scion, shoot, slip, splice, sprout, union

Ok.
My skepticism is dissipating. This study is fascinating.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3628911/

Discovery of the highly transmissible nature of RNA molecules (including mRNAs and noncoding small (s) RNAs) between adjacent cells and across the whole plant [17], presumably via the plant intercellular connections called plasmodesmata, has opened up a fresh possibility for understanding the phenomenon of graft hybrids.

ok , my horticultural background tells me its a graft of only 2 plants, one being Criollo 98 and the other Piloto . A graft of lets say one apple tree root stock with many scions can give us an apple tree with a variety of different colored apples on a single common tree , saving field/yard space by having multiple different pollinators where one would normally be. but thats about it.
but, I'm rusty on my horticultural technical updates by 30 yrs. I could see if it was a proven genetic cross that it could be something wonderful. I'm following this for more info.
