I remember those times. I didn't have electric knife. Sometimes I even buy pack of cigarettes from the store. I'm ashamed.
Still don't have electric shredder. It is best manual that I could find.

I tried an electric knife once ... results weren't good. I'm using a paper cutter to cut as best I can into narrow strips, which then go into a blender (on pulse). What I end up with are "fish food flakes" rather than ribbons, but they stuff and burn fine. In fact, I read somewhere (don't remember the source, though) that flakes burn slower than ribbons. I think the "fish food flakes" may pack more firmly than ribbons.

After I start using the Fresh Choice cigarette machine (should be arriving any day now from having been refurbished by the manufacturer -- long story!), I may consider getting one of their shredders. I read somewhere on the internet (not the manufacturer's website) that the Fresh Choice cigarette machine works best with the cut obtained from using the Fresh Choice shredder. Nevertheless, I'm in no hurry. I can always make a decision about that later in the year ... once I'm close to finishing all the tobacco I have on hand now.

I'm working on getting some of the shredders Maks uses. The invoice should be send tomorrow. Once I figure out the shipping, I'll post in the private forum, but I'm planning on selling them at near cost also.

Stay tuned ;)

sounds great Don.. max reckons that they're a good quality shredder.

I am confirming. I already send question to the factory what is the most efficient way to clean the rollers from tobacco resin. I heard somewhere here that beer is good. LOL
It is but I don't want to give all this pleasure to my machine.

My first job after leaving school was servicing office equipment including cash registers. The cash registers in hotels that had beer spilt on them had to be stripped and cleaned after a short period of time. I think we used a bath system with white spirits which dries rapidly leaving no residue at all. Many vehicle repair shops have a similar system to this day in New Zealand. Beer ends up being very sticky/gooey and will seize up components over time. As for a shredder. depends how much beer you give the machine and how much residue is left from the beer over time. It may remove some baccy residue but eventually create other issues (if not removed) as beer does not dry without leaving residue.

If beer does work well to remove baccy residue, I would suggest rinsing the shredder with something else afterwards.

Ain't beer for human consumption:p However, it is worth giving pleasure (by other means) to a valuable machine eh Max:cool:

Wouldn't 91% isopropyl alcohol ("rubbing alcohol") serve the purpose? It removes tobacco residue, and dries quickly without leaving a residue of its own.

As I saw, it's really easy to buy high proof isopropanol products in the US, you may just buy them from a CVS, Duane Reade, Rite Aid etc. store but as I know it's not that much easy in other countries. Btw, a standart glass cleaner has good amount of isopropanol (%40-45) in it.

I did it with isopropanol and sorghum brush. I need to buy brass brush. I think this could be the winning combination.
All in all I shred a lot of tobacco. Few kilos or double pounds and all could be OK if I wasn't shred to moist leaves. Tobacco should be in proper case. You get used to it in few sessions. Now it runs like new again.

Methylated spirits would do the same. .and be easier to get in countries where iso. Is restricted due to illegal uses. .over here its cause of its use to make hash oil..you still can buy it but for $15 per 1 ltr.and may draw anessasary attention. .. compared to $4 per ltr for meths.with no hassles.

Illegal uses? I was never aware that there were any; shows how naive I am! What is hash oil? Some derivative from hashish? If so, why would anyone want to make an oil from hashish?

Probably the same reason people stick it on a pin under a glass and smoke it that way.
I saw it on TV, Honest

From what ive been told...They get the leaf or bud of canabis. .then mix with iso like a big cup of tea..strain out the plant matter..then heat the iso(sometimes blow themselves up or burn themselves & the house). To dehydrate and be left with the oil..its a way to get the concentrated substance from weak canabis leaf.etc..people also use iso. To extract all essential oils..Rose lavender. ..they also use it to extract ethadrine from cold and flu pills to make meth- amphetamine.its a bigger issue here at the moment. .destroying our youth. .canabis isn't the issue any more. ..

I was, of course, aware of people using pseudephedrine pills for making methamphetamine. That's the reason why I have to go to the pharmacy counter and sign my name every time I buy pseudephedrine (i.e., Sudafed and generic brands) when I get a cold. The active ingredient used to replace pseudephedrine in cold medications, that is, those you don't have to go to the pharmacy counter and sign in order to purchase, simply don't work. I suppose I should at least be thankful that the U.S. government didn't simply ban pseudephedrine altogether! Why is it that law-abiding citizens always have to suffer restrictions of what they can do or buy on account of the actions of a comparatively small number of criminals?
