This morning I grafted a Big Gem scion (the top) onto a Monte Calm Rootstock. I also grafted the Monte Calm scion onto the Big Gem rootstock. I have little confidence that they will succeed. I really needed another set of hands to help me because the scions kept squirting out of the rootstock as I was trying to tape it with my grafting tape. It took me a long time and I'm not even sure how good the contact is between the two. We shall see. If this works, I'll call my new plants.. Big Monte and Monte Gem.

Looking forward to some pictures.

Someone needs to keep some root stock and over winter it and graph new growth to it next year. Compare this to a control of the same variety as the new growth graph and compare nicotine levels in mature leaves of both.
