today i was around the 2'nd biggest auction in the state of fla,

many items, from farm eq, to riding lawn mowers, cars..weed-eaters, hay bailers,,,combines,,,restaurant eq. and everything in between.

i stopped in for one thing, to see how much the riding mowers were going for,

and as luck would have it, i showed up at perfect timing, they were just starting to roll them in,,,

and after that they bought in some JOHN DEERE, '' GATORS'' the 6 wheel kind, and i was intrested, i heard one go for 1,600$ i think,

I DONT KNOW WHAT ANYTHING SOLD FOR i couldnt understand the guy??????

is thier a handbook, on understanding a auctioneer,?

i watch all the auction shows on t.v.

and i understand them just fine,

Could be you had a bad auctioneer. It takes training to be able to speak clearly at that speed. Most of what they are doing is nothing but noise with their tongue and you have to pick the price from all that noise. It is old school auctioneering that believed it lent to the excitement and spontaneousness of bidding so gets higher prices. Not all believe that anymore and realize it probably prevents more people from bidding and actually ends up loosing money. Take your pick. In the end they want that confused effect on you so you will make mistakes. Same reason casinoa are full of lights and mirrors. It's harder to go home when you can't find your way out of the casino. The longer you set there straining to figure out what that guy is saying the more likely you will raise your hand and bid.
