Very impressive collection. I count 20 on that list that I don't have! And I have a bunch. Last night, I was attempting to narrow down next year's grow to only 16 varieties. Hmm.

wow, very nice collection!

i have the same "bread and butter" varieties. it seems we all have the same core strains, and then it gets interesting to see where people branch out from there.

Yeah I have a seed collecting problem. I just remembered that I also have Brown Leaf, Havana 263 and Pa Red. Some of these have not been grown for quite a few years and might not be viable

Holy cow JBD! I am in awe of your list of seeds. Just for curiosity, would you say that you are fascinated by growing tobacco, or completely consumed?

How long have you been growing tobacco? I don't think I am going in that deep???

I think I've been growing tobacco for about 15 years. I'm just facinated by tobacco, all the different varieites and tastes, the old equipment and process that were used as well as the general history of it. I'm also becoming more and more intriqued about the health benefits of tobacco.

JBD, have you put any special breeding or selecting into any of these lines?

Did you get any of your seed from JL Hudson in the past?

I had a nice strain of fairly "resistant to aphids" of Havana 263 but gave up on it. This year I started to select for "low sucker output" and "resistance to tipping over" on a BSS-Maden. I bagged 4 of the most promising plants and downselected to the best one later in the summer.

I have bought many a seed from JL Hudson (and some books and giberillic acid) but no tobacco seeds.
