On designated plants selected for seed would it be disadvantageous to prime the plant of its crop? 3 weeks after bud, 3 leaves every week, that should not affect the seeds right? I plan on priming each week till the top are gone (4 weeks total?) then cutting the stalk and bringing it in. i want the seeds to be viable, and i am wondering if after stalk harvesting there should be more than enough nutrients in the stalk itself that it should not need to draw any more energy from the leaves to finish up the seed right? it will be getting mighty cool at night by then and i want everything in before freeze.

I don't think it hurts at all. I've got a bunch of totally primed stalks with hearty flowers on the top. Some of them are already bursting and dropping seeds.

If suckers count for anything there are a couple of bagged YTB plants in my garden wth good growth and they should be OK.
