It's a quick question really ... I'm growing 5 varieties which are YTB, Black Stalk Mammoth, Dark Virginia, Alida and Del Gold.

Some varieties like YTB and Black Mammoth are romping away about 5" tall and have 6 big true leaves and while there is a little variation within the variety they are all similar. The Alida and Del Gold under exactly the same conditions are still microscopic - they are only just beginning to show their first proper leaves and are tiny.

Is this normal?

Thats normal John, some just seem to go great guns and some are still working out if its a plant or a gold fish.

Thanks for the reply Darren ... ah well! I suppose they have a bit of time to try and catch up before it's safe to plant out here!
