Nice job. Bring that wrapper in a little higher case and it will almost wrap itself. Then as it dries, it tightens up the cigar. You've paid attention to a lot of details on rolling.

short and small....

i'll take your advice on letting the wrapper be in high case,,,

early in the morning is perfect for me,, i live near the river, and our nights are very dewey,,,,

my leaves are so soft in the mornings,,,, i go in and out of case daily,,,,and am glad for it,,,

Chicken,
That was the most enjoyable cigar-rolling video I've ever watched. And your cigar looks like it came out pretty good.

Thanks for posting it.

Wow, that was a really good video. I never saw anybody roll a cigar before, I enjoyed the simplicity of it. Thanks for your effort.

I have a new-found appreciation for how cigars are assembled. I know nothing about cigars and will probably reveal my "newbie-ness" if I ask what the press is for?

Is it to hold it while aging? Added flavor? Make it look better?

CaryNC,
The cigar mold or press is used in cigar factories to turn out large numbers of cigars that are identical in circumference, and are perfectly smooth and parallel. (There are also molds for making figurado cigars.) After the binder (the first wrapper) is applied to the hand rolled bunch, the cigar is added to a mold. When the mold is filled--usually with 10 cigars--it is assembled with its top half, then pressed. Half-way through the pressing, it is opened to allow each cigar to be rotated 90º in the mold to smooth out the seam created by the mold, then pressed again. When they come out of the press, the final wrapper is applied by hand to the pressed cigar bunches.

At home, you'll do better learning to roll them entirely by hand, as Chicken has done in the video. Once you are adept at consistently rolling cigars that draw well, then you could consider using a press to make works of art to show off to your friends.

Hey Chicken,
Have you ever thought about marketing your own cigar line? "Chicken Cee-gars" I could see how that would have appeal if marketed correctly. Definitely would have character. Although, I would hold off on the "other ingredients you don't wanna know nothing about" in the glue.
