Yup. His name is Stan. Had him 4 years now. Does little good, but he's someone to talk to while out in the field.

OK, I put up a scarecrow yesterday.

huntsman.jpg

This is the 'Huntsman'.

He's got a ventilated stingy brim to keep the sun off his noggin, a number 9 flip-down tinted lens if it gets too bright, a pair of 25's to rattle and a shiney knife blade to attack them browsing deer!

Deer do NOT bother my tobacco here. They like everything else I might like to eat, one day.

Any more scarecrow pics???

That's scary to me, but I know it's supposed to be human, and that humans are supposed to have eyes and legs. So, it's creepy.

Scarecrows benefit from two prominent eyes. But some animal behavioral studies with deer have demonstrated that a "person" who never moves in response to the approach of deer is soon ignored, and they will eventually graze right up to the scarecrow supports.

I'm pretty sure scarecrows are supposed to have a head made from a 5 lb. burlap sack with a rope for a necktie...and I'm positive they need straw coming out of the sleeves and pant legs.

Or you can just hang a picture of Knucks in your garden. That will even keep the neighbors out.

All correct.

The scarecrow is worthless for scaring the deer away from my veggies.
They got beefsteak tomatoes last night.

All the young ladies walking by my garden like it, though.

Yes, they may trample veggies...
