I have become intrigued by my country's tobacco history, would therefore like to have info on some different tobacco varieties, Is here somebody who can help me with that?
The variants I now want to know more about are:
"Havana 211"
"Havana 236"
"Tofta" One of the earliest varieties in Sweden, Perhaps it is a Dutch variant from the beginning.
"Ohio" (Dutch)
"Madole"

-I would be so grateful if anyone here can help me, Will not myself to buy seeds of these varieties (yet anyway) but want to know as much as only possible, to help others Swedish hobby growers or potential growers ..

I will probably thrive, everything will be what you make of it.

-With a little luck, I can both receive and give information

Havana 236 is a cigar filler. It makes a nice filler and when shade grown a nice wrapper. I like it a lot better than Havana 142.
Ohio (Dutch) is similar to Little Dutch but they are not the same (as I once suspected). I believe Skychaser has grown both and he could probably give you more information. Little Dutch is thought to have come from Germany (in the 1880's)

Havana 211 - http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/acchtml.pl?1447405
Havana 236 - not listed

Ohio Dutch - http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/acchtml.pl?1447599

Little Dutch - http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/acchtml.pl?1446218

Madole - http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/html/acchtml.pl?1447668

Ohio Dutch and Little Dutch taste very similar but Ohio Dutch is milder and is a much bigger plant. Both have a fairly high nicotine content.

Hasse, I am growing Ahus this year and about all I know about it is that it is a very fast maturing variety from Sweden. Do you know anything about it?

shychaser, of course I know more about it, it is a tobacco that almost all Swedish hobby growers. People have it to do so well cigarette, snuff and cigars.

-1700-1960 Grown much tobacco in Sweden when the tobacco have been derived primarily from holland and germany. Alidan will be a cross between Nicotiana Tabacum alternatively a cross between Tabacum / Maryland. It has the kind long been seen as the only surviving variety but last year it is possible that they came alive in a previous tobacco, I keep on chasing involved to see how the experiment went (have not heard it on begun even without stumbling only on a document) .. Something more about Alidan / Å-hus you want to know?

Japp "My mistake" we call Alida for the woman who is its producer. (Alida Olsson) in Åhus one off the last large tobacco growers, in 1964 they stopped receiving Swedish tobacco, chose instead to buy your cheaper .. I suspect that the leaf-mold that made sure we only got up 25% of the normal harvest had a hand in the game (oh, you understand what I am writing, terrific in that case)...

What I am growing has no resemblance to a Maryland tobacco at all. It is a very small plant no more than 30 inches high at the top of the flower. The seed head is quite large. There are 8-10 leaves per plant which are about 6-7 inches in length and 4-5 inches wide. It bloomed in 28 days and is now nearly finished. I'll try to get a pict later today.
