Have seen this mentioned a few times this season. And don't think the culprit has been identified. Found this half hatched cluster while cleaning primed leaf Sunday. I now know what it looks like but not what it is. Looks like some type of beetle.

My son found my first nest of these last night . I had never seen them before on any of my tobacco until last night ,just one bunch . They look like little tiny ticks when hatched .

I use no chemicals on my crop at all unless it is sucker control and aphid control on my commercial tobacco and I still have not found one tobacco worm this year on any of my crop . I guess they all drowned .

That stink bug looks alot like the squash bug. http://wholeleaftobaccollc.com/forum/showthread.php?2939-Squash-Bug I don't know if it's the same bug or just similar looking, but if they cause the same type of damage, get them out of the patch as soon as possible. My lower YTB leaves look absolutely awful from the damage. I thought I had an especially bad disease until I actually found one of the bugs. I used Bug-B-Gone granules around the outside perimeter of the patch to get rid of them. The damage looks nasty.
