...to put it bluntly.
Got a few tins from a local tobacco shop that does their own blending. Picked up 6 different blended tins. 3 aeromatics and 3 conventional blends. After trying out all three aeromatics, I have to say that I don't like them. Only one out of the three is nice. The other two have tongue bite, and that is about it. I've tried their Turkish, Latakia, Perlique blend and that is good. Little tongue bit, good smoke taste, good taste overall.

I will say though, I would like an aromatic that I can taste the apple, peach, mango, etc. But all three of these you can't taste anything but the tobacco. Not bad for one of the three.

One thing I would like to know though. In the past, years ago, smoking a pipe would give me a buzz, now I feel that I'm puffin on air. Is it me, have I just acclimated to needing more nic?

Thats defeating my purpose, which is not defined but limited to growing and curing my own. Take into account my unlimited supply from the last 2 years and my intake of cigx. cut in half . my cigars omade up for the cig decreese. All in all whole leaf and homegrown has been beneficial to me. The cost to roll a smoke! Unlike some I can appreciate but not duplicate a nice blend. Everyones tastes are different. Yea.

I never thought I would like aromatics either then I met McClellands three cherry blend, it is fantastic, great cherry flavor but it doesnt over power the tobacco which burns perfectly I might add

Aromatics fall into two commercial categories: very cheap tobacco that requires aromatics to render them "smokable", and high quality pipe tobacco to which aromatics have been added in order to create a unique aroma or flavor.

The cheap ones (often found in drug stores) need so much aromatic additive that they invariably cause tongue bite--but they smell nice to others. McClellan as well as Cornell & Diehl make some of the loveliest aromatics I've ever smoked.

Most tobacconists who "blend their own" pipe tobaccos purchase 5 pound bags of various pre-made blends and "blending tobaccos" from Altadis. Some of these aren't too bad, but none of them are great. That having been said, I occasionally enjoy a very inexpensive brand (by Dreamcastle, in Richmond) of "Chocolate" pipe tobacco.

MacBaren's seems to fall somewhere in between. They do use quality tobaccos, but tend to overindulge in the aromatic additives.
