Found a praying mantis eating bugs.
I have never seen one on Baccy before He is brown also. I gots to get me more of thems.

I saw a couple this year on the baccy, but didn't get to see them catch a pest.

Wife is scared of them but i cannot help liking any living thing that HUNTS for its food. Call it mutual respect.

Yeah mantis are cool bugs..we used to play with them as kids...they're a pretty well seeing bug..that'll follow your finger when you move it around.
...and feed them flys just to see them kill it..arnt kids lovely (like putting blow flys on a cotton leash)ahaha

They do eat aphids .
Yes they do bite . I was bitten once and swelled up some , about like a wasp sting .

Have you ever seen a walking stick ???

I like the bugs or at least some but they are not plentiful like they used to be . Praying mantis , walking sticks , butter flies and dragon flies , seem to be disappearing .
Every year I could find a cicada shell on a catalpa tree and now it is rare .

I see you guys have bigger stick insects over there... ours are about 20-25 cm max (the girls are biggest)

I bet Ive spent a hundred $ on mantis egg cases over the years. They go up in the tree tops and I see them in the spring and fall.

Mantis eggs you can buy. Ive bought them at garden centers and catlogs. Ive also bought lady bugs with little sugsess.
