just received the new powermatic shredder (from don) .WOW just shredded the whole sampler pack in in less than 30 min. anybody who on the fence about one .two words BUY IT. now my question is what are the tips n tricks for it, thank you, joel

If you've already shredded 3 1/2 lbs, you've already learned what you need to know.

Basically, don't force feed it. Don't shred any tobacco that is too moist...it will clog the cutters. Other than that, be sure to switch the power off when you're not using it.

The toggle switch has three positions. Off, On and Backwards. The Backwards position is to clear jams, but I found it is also helpful to run the machine backwards before and after shredding. You can watch foreign matter come out as it is run backwards. I think this helps keep it from becoming gummed up.

Although there is no mechanical adjustment for width of shred, you can "adjust" it slightly via the case/moisture level of the leaf being shredded. Dryer leaf makes a finer shed to a point. Too dry it turns to dust, too damp it can jam.
