Yep! It's finally here.

Mata Fina is grown in the state of Bahia on the eastern coast of Brazil. Here the region is tropical and the soil fertile, which naturally makes a great tobacco growing environment. The tobacco from this area is of the finest quality.

Mata Fina is very smooth and creamy, sweet, aromatic, medium-bodied smoke. The foundation flavor is chocolatey and woody, the aroma is rich and syrupy with mild spice notes.

See it...here

Looks and sounds great. NO SEEDS? Be nice to plant and share.
I am sharing :)

Mata Fina is a premium cigar tobacco. It is used exclusively by high end cigar manufacturers. A single 5 x 52 Mata Fina puro will cost $8 - $10. The cigar tobaccos I sell are proven in quality and consistency. As with just about all tobacco, the finished leaf will have differing characteristics from region to region. They say the quality of Mata Fina can change from one farm to the next...it is a geographic specific type of tobacco.

Several years ago, I grew the Brazilian cigar variety, Bahía, hoping to capture the distinctive taste of some now extinct brands of pure Brazilian cigars (e.g. Suerdiek). There was a hint of Brazil there, but Bahía just wasn't it.

Enter WLT's Brazilian Mata Fina Filler. Grown in the Bahía region of Brazil, the Mata Fina captures that lost taste and aroma. The neatly froglegged leaves in my sample averaged about 12"x6", which is typical for upper leaf. The color is a medium reddish brown. These are thinner than the upper leaf of many other varieties. They appear to be well aged.

I sorted through a half-dozen leaves to select one to serve as wrapper and binder. Below is a Mata Fina puro.

Despite its "rustic" appearance, rest assured that it is tidier, more smoothly wrapped, and generally larger than the expensive Brazilian made cigars that I used to purchase in the 1970s and early 1980s (before the seamless dowel, Cuban appearance became the market norm). Besides, the wrapper I used is a filler-grade leaf.

Both the aroma and taste of Mata Fina are unique to Brazil. Pure Brazilian cigars are not for everybody. They always have an earthy, almost musty smell unlit, and a singular aroma. The CAO Brazilia line of cigars contains a smattering of this, blended among Central American and Caribbean varieties.

My Mata Fina puro smoked smoothly, with a medium body, and a slight bitter edge, which I attribute to its being made entirely of upper leaf--filler, binder and wrapper. I believe that the Mata Fina will shine as a major or minor blending element for cigar filler, and will mate well with a less edgy, preferably dark wrapper.

The Mata Fina is a great find for wholeleaftobacco.com.

Would somebody happen to know if one could get a hold of seeds to grow that Brazilian Mata Fina Tobacco ?
It isn't just as simple as it being the Brazil Bahia variety ?
I made a batch of a pound of this for snus and I'll go so far as saying , this is the best snus I have in my fridge , I thought nothing could beat my own grown 24 varieties but have to take that back.....
It is so ferociously good with those creamy , sweet and smooth notes.
That is have flavor of chocolate , wood and an aroma that is rich + syrupy makes it a real killer is my word.
I am very greatful to have made the choice of purchasing it and to Don who's got it available in his webstore.
Got The Shivers when its in my mouth. :p

I chew this variety often!!! Love it! In a Cigar, it definitely needs to be added lightly to get the creamy syrupy side, but it is a great dual purpose leaf that I love.
