I talked to him yesterday. He's going to post a list of the plants available pretty soon. He's been getting a late start due to cold weather. Heating the green house costs more than the plants are worth. They will cost between $1.50 - $2.00 per plant depending on variety.

We still have frozen water in my pot holes during the mornings .

Here is my Plant list . These are what should be avaliable in 6 weeks more or less .
Providing they all germinate and grow without any mother nature mishaps .
After the terrible past week and the unspeakable last 6 months that I hope is gone by and never comes back , It wouldn't surprise me if Chickens Bigfoot took up living in my greenhouse .
They will be latter this year because of extremely cold weather .
If anyone has a certain variety that I do not have and want them in quanity just let me know .

What a fabulous list! You've really outdone yourself, Larry.
I'll add comments on some of the varieties available:

1 . Perique [when air-cured, this makes flavorful, medium-strength cigar filler.]
3. Maryland 609 [I've smoked a lot of this (grown by BB) in cigars. Medium strength.]
4. Smyrna #9 [A productive Izmir-type Oriental, excellent in cigarette and pipe blends.]
5. Zimmer Spanish [A deeply flavorful Havana-type filler.]
6. Little Dutch [Richly flavorful, mild cigar filler.]
8. Florida Sumatra [Makes excellent medium-brown wrapper when sun-grown. Even better when shade-grown.]
9. Penn Red [Full-flavored, medium-strength cigar filler.]
13. Kelley Burley [A large-leafed, moderate strength white-stem variety. Lower leaves make excellent light wrapper.]
15. Ct Broad Leaf [A deeply colored, full-strength cigar wrapper, usually sun-grown.]
19. Comstock Spanish [A deeply flavorful Havana-type filler. Upper leaf kilns very dark.]
22. Xanthi Yaka [The holy grail of light, aromatic Oriental leaf. For cigarette and pipe blending. Also known as Yenidje.]
23. Shirazi [Produces larger leaf than most Oriental. Air-cures best when stalk harvested. Superb after long aging.]
24. Samsun [A fuller-bodied, productive Oriental, grown with wide spacing. For pipe and cigarette blending.]
27. Bolivia Black [A potent, musty cigar filler, also excellent straight in a pipe. Unique and wonderful.]
35. Dominican Olor [Medium-bodied cigar filler.]
36. Glessnor [A large seedleaf variety. Makes medium-bodied filler, sturdy binder and wrapper.]
37. Harrow Velvet [A yummy, golden white-stem burley. Medium strength and flavor.]
38. Jalapa [A full-bodied cigar filler.]
39. Machu Picchu [Peruvian. When sun-grown, makes dark brown, flavorful wrapper.]
40. Mutki [A surprisingly large-leafed Oriental (possibly semi-Oriental) that makes thin wrapper when sun-grown.]
41. Vuelta Abajo [A true Cuban variety for cigar wrapper, binder, filler.]
44. Keller [A mild, productive Maryland variety. Makes great Black Cavendish. Toasty taste as cigar filler.]
45. Wisconsin Seed Leaf [Large and productive. Makes good filler and binder with medium flavor.]
46. Jamaica Wrapper [Doesn't make much wrapper-grade leaf when sun-grown, but adds a rich, toasty, distinctive Jamaica flavor to filler.]
48. Havana 38 [A medium-size cigar filler variety. Medium-strength and flavor.]
49. Tasova [An edgy Oriental variety. Tolerates close spacing. For cigarette and pipe blending.]
50. Hickory Pryor [A flue-cure variety with large leaves. Top leaf will kiln to black oscuro wrapper.]
51. Balikesir [A medium-strength Oriental for cigarette and pipe blending.]
52. Sacred Corn Planter Rustica [When suckers controlled, produces "large" leaf. Mild nicotine, with distinctive rustica aroma.]
55. CT Shade [When shade-grown, yields excellent wrapper. Sun-grown leaf more suitable for binder.]
56. Monte Calme Brun [Enormous leaves. Mild-to-medium strength. Suitable for cigarette blending and cigar filler.]
57. Manila Wrapper [May yield wrapper when shade-grown. Mild strength and flavor.]
58. Samsun Maden [A rich and flavorful Oriental. Tolerates close spacing. Good for cigarette and pipe blending.]
60. Catterton ( Maryland ) [A mild, productive plant. Suitable for cigarette and pipe blending.]

61. Wisconsin 901 [A WI Seedleaf variety. Large and productive, medium-to-dark brown. Good as cigar filler, binder, sometimes wrapper.]
62. Paris Wrapper [A flue-cure variety. Air-cures to mild, light leaf. Flue-cured has a distinctive taste for pipe and cigarette blending.]

63. Papante [Primitive. Similar to Little Dutch, but darker and stronger.]
64. MT Pima [Primitive. Similar to Little Dutch, but darker, stronger, and lends a peppery edge to blends.]

65. Little Yellow [A Dark-air variety. Richly flavorful. Useful in pipe blends and as filler. May be suitable for chew and snuff.]
66. Golden Burley [A white-stem burley. Very light yellow leaf.]

67. Lancaster Seedleaf [A large-leafed, productive plant. Milder and lighter than WI Seedleaf and Glessnor. For cigar filler.]
68. Pennsylvania Red (NP) [This PA Red is derived originally from seed by Nicotiana Project. Seems more productive.]

Is that all from personal experience? I think it is. Those are great notes to have all in one place. Not to steal BigBonner's thread, but that would make a good sticky somewhere.

That is from personal experience. That's why some varieties were omitted. The experience of others with these varieties might clarify/contradict my impressions. Since I don't smoke cigarettes, all my "cigarette" comments are conjecture.

My purpose in adding all those comments is to assist those unfamiliar with some of the varieties in ordering transplants from BigBonner.

Wow, no kidding, you have actually grown, processed, and smoked all of those varieties?
Impressive.

The MD 609 and Bolivia Criollo Black were grown by BigBonner. The Vuelta Abajo was grown by Jitterbugdude. But yep, I've grown all the rest, and then some. Of course, the results of what I grew may or may not have been typical for the varieties.

You're right about it everbody have different choices with different senses of taste, this is argumentative. So your comments may be helpful for selecting untried varieties to grow (or smoke) but empiric.

Not only "cigarette" commets but also some of your tobacco comments are conjecture for example,

Yenidje is not a name of a strain, it is a town (Genisea) in Xanthi region but formerly the old name of Xanthi region/area which also used to cover some Bulgarian regions (like Kirdzhali etc) in Ottoman era. There're 7 places called Yenice/Yenidje in Turkey, 5 places in Greece and 2 places in Azerbaijan. Because of this it's better to use "Xanthi" as a name of that tobacco strain, also this is the unique way to define this variety scientifically.

Let's examine McClelland's some pipe tobaccos (Grand Orientals). Some brand names of this pipe tobaccos are really very prone to mix up peoples views because of name resemblance.

McClelland_Tinned_Grand_Orientals_Yenice_Agonya_Pipe_Tobacco.jpg
1290796952-McClelland%20Grand%20Orientals%20Yenidje%20Highlander.jpg

The tobacco company gived the name of Oriental tobaccos to these brands. The "Yenice Agonya" brand has Yenice and Agonya tobaccos which are grown in Balıkesir area in Turkey. On the right side "Yenidje Highlander" (there's also a brand called "Yenidje Supreme") contains tobaccos from Xanthi in Greece. So this brand really caused misunderstandings especially among pipe smokers because of the name resemblance between two blends/brands. I think if we want to help people it's better to write the scientific realities here not rumours. Xanthi is Xanthi and Yenice is Yenice.

For Mutki, I don't know what do you think or know about the term "semi-oriental" but it never means bigger (than usual) leaf varieties of Turkish tobaccos.

Is Bolivia Criollo Black the same as Cuban Criollo 98? If not, what does the Criollo signify?

I believe that criollo means "native seed" and could be applied to many tobacco's....i.e. Dominican criolla.....Cuban criollo.....etc. I'm sure someone will give a much longer and better definition, but that's what I've always understood.

I think that's correct. 'Criollo' is Spanish (the French would be 'Creole') and referred to the people in colonial times who were of European descent but were born in the New World. For plants and stuff it means bred and developed in the New World. So with tobacco it does seem like it means locally developed breeds.

For that reason, I think Bolivian (and Argentine) Criollo would be very different from Cuban. I am definitely going to order some of Larry's Bolivian plants. I think this type may be the basis of the kinds of dark cigarettes you can get in Argentina.

Here are a few picture of this years plants . They are close to ready for planting . Some can planted now if babied a little .
They are tender from the cool cloudy days . But they are healthy . When trimming there was not one bug spot from anything on the leaves .
