Uncle Ben seemed to enjoy this so I decided to share.
I measured one of these,

and build this.
IMG-20140131-WA0000.jpg
and here is how I use it, first cut a wrapper from a nice piece of leaf.
2014-01-31 20.58.48.jpg
then store it under a damp cloth
2014-01-31 20.59.22.jpg
I strip the soft leaf from between the vains.

Then I pack it, one left and one right until I feel it is enough(don't have any fancy tools for uniformaty yet). The tobacco should stick a little over the sides.

Close...

and trim.

Roll a few rounds in the direction of the arows, this wil serve as a moulding stage.

to be continued...

Take the wrapper and insert under the moulted tobacco.
IMG-20140131-WA0013.jpg
Roll in the direction of the arrows until just a little piece sticks out on the opposite end. Here I use some none toxic glue to pull things together
, just a little spread evenly and thin.
IMG-20140131-WA0014.jpg
Give it a roll to pull glued piece in.
IMG-20140131-WA0015.jpg
Cut small strip from a different color...
IMG-20140131-WA0016.jpg
coat with thin glue, insert and roll. this will be the "mouthpiece", it provides a little reinforcing and it looks nice.

And there you go.

I like it! Some of the cigar makers might want to talk to you about the white glue. I gather that you don't let "nobody makes what you want" slow you down much, you're going to fit right in with this bunch.

I like the rustic look of the roller. It looks homeade, which I think is cool. Most people here can relate to that!

Jitter, you control the density by putting in more or less tobacco, you get the feel for it after a while. Mark the size is about 4 x 32, but you can kick it up to 40 by letting the machine open a little. Lever, we don't get cigar supplies in South Africa, the white glue is as good as its going to get! As for nobody making what I want, I love cigars, any cigars, all the cigars that I tasted so far where nice, each in its own way, but we pay $3 for a cheapy and then it no better than what I make at the moment, cigarette or pipe tobacco hastily cured and machine rolled, I'm going to carry on with my machine, but I'm sure as hell going to use better tobacco. Bar, it is home made, pine wood and a leather strip.

For cigar glue, most of us use fruit pectin, available in grocery stores in the canning section. It's used in the making of jellies and jams. It comes in powdered form and just add a little water.

Thanks Knuck. Uncle Ben told me the South African equivalent of the pectin, same thing, different name. Bar, you can smoke them straight from the machine, but I find that a two week resting period improves the taste and the cigar burns more evenly. Lever, I don't even think you can get hold of a cigar roller in South Africa, here a cigar is a novelty, so we have no "cigar culture" at all, but now my tail is up, got that market cornered! Thank you for the kind comments.

Nice little machine you made. What did you use for the fabric to rest the Baccy in.
