I was told this by a gent in the construction safety board, That the same type of chems. are some of the same in treated rail road ties and Womanized woods. Now what type I would have to look into over seas shipping of wood palets.I was told not to burn them for heat, cooking and use leather glove to handel them.

Thanks, that actually did clear things up. I never thought that wood would have a msds. Formaldehyde does not have a distinct smell, but is very irritating to smell. Formaldehyde is an aldehyde and aldehydes are the compounds that are responsible for tobacco smoker being a carcinogen (aside from nicotine). So basically if your tobacco were contaminated it would be really harsh when you smoker it and give you cancer far faster. Not great and formaldehyde is volatile so your tobacco is contaminated to some extent.

@ Mad Oshea: coal-tar creosote is the chemical used on RR ties.
