Recently joined and am hoping to grow here in FL. Don't know how sandy soil will work, guess I need to start reading....:confused:

Welcome to the forum. Sandy soil is fine, so long as it's not mostly sand, in which case the addition of some organic supplement (such as compost) will improve its ability to hold moisture, and provide nutrients.

There is quite a bit or organic matter in my soil, how about pests, like caterpillars, mites, grasshoppers. Will I have to use a lot of sprays? Sorry if this is in wrong thread...jim

i live in florida,,,,and have no issues with the soil,,, but i do fortify it with chicken-manure each year,,,

and welcome jmick,,, glad your really intrested in growing your own,,,

i told you on that other website '' we'' visit,,,

that growing it aint that hard,,,,waiting on it to be smokable is the hard part.
