It's a shame, but it looks looks it might happen this time. If I remember correctly, Bush twice vetoed this bill. I don't trust Obama to do the same. I'll make a prophesy: One day, and sooner than we think, tobacco will be outlawed and marijuana legal.

The guy, I forget his name, the cigar store owner who single-handedly began the resistance to FDA control of cigars and prohibition of mail order and walk-in humidors deserves all our support for trying to save one of a man's few simple pleasures. I gave to the Cigar Rights Association that he founded and encourage all cigar lovers to give a little and at least email your Congressmen.

The anti-smoking hysteria has become ridiculous. No smoking on the beach, no smoking in the woods if a government park. It's all too much! No smoking at the bus stop--just breathe diesel fumes. Do they even know that Hitler did exactly what they want to do?

All good things in moderation. Must we have the government and insurance companies for nannies? In the land of the free and the brave? Looks like it.

never take your freedom for granted. it is a fifty dollar fine for having a dope plant but as it stands now it is a mandatory $50,000 and 2 yrs in jail per plant for growing your own tobacco here plus all tax by weight times 5, I doubt its enforceable but it is law so the threat is there. This is what happens when you take your freedom for granted in what you think is a free and democratic country, no ifs or buts here its done

Do you mean this is federal law or the law of your state?

Federal yes Guns went first but there were ways around that and although i lost some of my best ones I still got em ;) . the criminalisation was accomplished with no public consultation or mention in the media and very few ppl would even know the laws exist except by looking it up or the occasional Fb rant

Heh heh heh, You aint been to Texas. When like minded people band together there is no telling.
We pretty much dont likie the wussification of our country Remember Goliad, remember the Alamo. All americans know this when we were brought up. Fight for what you believe. I am afraid tht there is a movement to dissuade people;[fellow americans] to be their own self. Being your own self questions everything. People in power don't like to be questioned or held accountable for their actions.

I smoke in my truck in hospital parking lots. I figure if they accost me I'm going to tell them I brought that air from home and they better get out of my face and quit breathing my air.

Found out that only about a dozen cities will permit you to have a smoke with your beer. Some states leave it up to the town. Texas does have the most, and there is New Orleans, Miami, Tampa, Raleigh (I think,) and some places in PA.
