Beautiful. I love black walnut (maduro). It already has a used tobacco stained look to it. The irregular shape is fitting as well.

I imagine it was harvested from the stump that was left after the tree was cut for lumber. I think it's great someone found a use for a gorgeous piece of wood that might other wise have just rotted away. My walnut board was cut from a 20" wide board with the side grain upwards. I like how yours has the end grain upwards. That will make for a tough board.

I use a 20" x 17" scrap of granite countertop that I picked up at a local installer. Most of these places either toss out their scrap or sell it off extremely cheap. The surface is smooth and holds a wrapper leaf well with just a little bit of water. It also cleans up easily.
