Anybody else growing red russian this year? I hear the flowers are very pretty and I would like to know what anyone thinks of the flavor. It looks like an unclassified so does this mean it is not a tabacum variety?

EDIT: just read an old thread about it, interesting it is one of if not the oldest tabacum variety! Thanks to don for that useful PDF

I'm growing it for the first time. They started out indoors very well, they out grew the other varieties I had started.
Now that I got everything planted outside I'm having a lot of problems with slugs and insects this year. Out of 20 starts of Red Russian I'll be happy if I end up harvesting 3 or 4.

Hope it goes well for you, I'm having no problem with my starts yet. Anyone else grown or is growing Red Russian?
