Hi! I'm new to growing and smoking. Smoked a pipe twice and liked it so much I wanted to start growing it. Looking for advice on heirloom varieties, organic growing, and curing methods before I get started next year. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. What you plant for next year will depend on what you like to smoke in your pipe. There are many heirloom tobacco varieties that are perfect for various pipe blends.

While you're waiting for next year--which will actually begin for you in Feb or March, with germinating seed-- have a look at www.wholeleaftobacco.com. Common pipe tobacco blends contain flue-cured Virginia, one or more Orientals, and perhaps some Latakia. Using any air-cured variety, you can make Cavendish and Perique at home.

Be sure to read the grower's FAQ (link at top of every page).
