Cameroon tobacco

Does WLT carry any Cameroon? I looked yesterday, but could not find any.

Not much demand for it. You're the third person ever to ask about it. I did look into it a few weeks ago and was told Cameroon has fallen out of favor with the industry and the only way to get it was in full bales. It's just too big of an investment with such a small market.

You'd be surprised how many people here have bought it from the Other place, but knowing your tobacco is the BEST out there. Would a group buy help?

I just heard today since the last post, that your Criollo 98' wrapper is better than the Cameroon. I have tried neither, and I respect the opinion of this person. As always, your leaves are the best~!

I read somewhere that chronic African chaos has made genuine Cameroon hard to get.

Don't jump on it just on my behalf. I was just curious. Iv also heard that it is thin and hard to use as a wrapper, being very new at rolling, i probably wouldn't buy any until I got good at it.

That could be. I do like the taste on one hand, on the other, I'm really liking the Criollo tobaccos I got in last week.

Cameroon wrapper leaf was derived from Sumatra Deli seed--the famous Sumatra wrappers. Ecuador Sumatra is derived from the same original seed source. The difference is that the growing conditions in Ecuador seem to yield a leaf with a better stretch (easier to roll with), and a lighter color.

The great popularity of Cameroon wrapper exploded on the American market at a time when candela (green) wrapped cigars were still popular. Compared to the many superb "natural," EMS and maduro wrapper varieties available today, Cameroon is no longer a big player. Might be fun.

I don't know what magnitudes are involved in a "group buy" but I'd definitely be in for a couple pounds. I get my Cameroon from "the other place" but Id rather buy it from Don.

I can't answer for Bruck, but it can be used as both.

I've only been rolling about 9 months and I made the mistake of using Cameroon in the early stages. It is very delicate. Hard to keep wrinkles out. So thin that when damp you can read a newspaper through. I like the taste though. I now put a double wrapper on and it works pretty good. If you like Cohibas or Fuente Cameroons this is a worthwhile wrapper. #12

I would definitely buy 20+ pounds, if Don got the Cameroon in.

I don't know how much you're rolling but I know 20lbs would be a lot. There's about 100-120 leaves to the lb. Having said that I would be in for picking up a couple of pounds if Don were to find a source for a well aged product. #12
