I have not tried it, but I think the Corian counter top material mentioned elsewhere would be ideal. Heavy, durable, smooth, and easy on knife edges.

I got a stainless cookie sheet yesterday and just put the wrappers on a few cigars today. It really does make a big difference in smoothing out and holding the wrapper in place
when applying it. Also it makes trimming the wrapper leaf easier with the sheet. Because it is held stretched and doesn't move as on the wood cutting board.
I double face taped the sheet to a piece of shelving cut to size of the sheet. That made the sheet a nice solid surface.

Do you think 16x16 would be enough? I was eyeballing a piece of polished marble tile, bit thought it might be too small.
