Time to revisit this one. Three months under pressure, dried fruit /prune aroma. Took forever to dry to a shredding case. End result I am totally yahoo with. Don't really notice a change in nicotine, so maybe I did not let it go long enough for the pH to change, who knows.

My understanding of perique is that it moderates tongue bite in a pipe blends and adds flavor.

My experiment to determine success... A quick blend of FC African red, Black Mammoth, and my Perique, yielded a nice flavor but kind of harsh and "bitey". Adding to the percentage of perique had an immediate of removing bite and harshness; creating a pleasurable blend.

Long story short..... Putting late season leaf that would otherwise be trash/compost under pressure for a few months yielded a few extra pounds of good baccy.
