I have a few Prilep growing indoors, just to have something green to keep me happy over the winter.

As expected, they are a little leggy and sparse, being only indoors and only getting the light from the window.

Here is the interesting part.... It appears even a basic window screen is enough "shade" to effect plant growth. As they get past the middle of the window and get light from the upper half with no screen, leaf spacing is closer, not stretched out and leggy, not to mention how much healthier the part of the plant above the middle of the window, no screen, looks.

Been a few weeks since I updated the progress of my window Prilep. They are now around 35 leaves and the first one is starting a bud head.

Probably never work well for larger varieties, but sends fine for oriental.

I have a couple Little Dutch plants that have been doing very well, sure love the taste of that one. Just started the prelep seeds you gave me, it's the variety that WLT doesn't currently sell, along with Izmir, Vuelta Abajo, Habano Colorado (GRIN, Argentina), and Gorge Grand (GRIN, Brazil). Lonnie's Havana and a couple others are next.

I might keep a few of those for indoor. The secret with the buckets I've found is that they need small amounts of fertilizer every month or two.

I agree, I wouldn't do it with larger varieties.

Thanks for the support.;)

Nice window plants DG, Cool observation. They will be to the roof soon. Are You going to bag them or let them flower?

Pretty! Are the leaves sticky? My pot-Prileps all had extremely sticky leaves, but that was outdoors.

BT, I hope they come to flower, no need to bag them. We will see.

Planter, no stickiness. Leaves kind of thin, since indoors and no supplemental light, just the window. May just end up with a bunch of cigarillo wrappers, who knows, and only one way to find out.

If you trim off the bottom 2 leaves, for some reason it grows more leaves on the top, and does become sticky. I like your experiment, and will watch this thread to see how it goes for you!

Dave, I suspect the limited light of the indoor window grow is the main factor in the leaves staying thinner and not sticky. Essentially like a shade grown leaf. If I could put them out in good sun I would expect the leaves to thicken and be more "resinous" within a couple weeks.
