I am in northern alabama, and am looking for any advice on growing in this location. I am starting to avidly read this forum but I am looking for more information specifically towards my location.

Oh! and I am looking to grow for cigars! Is there a preference that people have for varieties for my area for cigars?

you can grow just about any variety you choose in Nawth Bama. Look over the responses here for some of the best varieties for cigars recommended. Don has a cigar sampler with some of the best tobacco available for rolling some. Welcome to the forum.

if I can grow in vermont you won't have any issues whatsoever as to types the havana 142 gets a lot of great reviews.
