I had a fellow offer me a Bercomac shredder a while back, apparently it was a nice little unit, but I haven't been able to find any information about them, except I think they were built in Quebec.?
I've been using a pasta cutter for the last few years, which is a little coarse, but does the job I guess. It is seriously worn out though, the 'bearing' was nothing more than steel on steel, so that didn't last long, and I rebuilt it, but have eternal problems with leaf clogging up the slots, and tearing out the "stripper".. An endless source of frustration.
I was thinking about the Powermatic listed here, but after the reviews I'm thinking twice about it.
I'd be interested in seeing what other people have built from scratch.. One of my friend has a cheap rig, it's a disc with 3 razor blades in it, you roll the leaf into a sausage and feed it, while turning the hand crank.. Seems to make a nice shag.
