That's all I'm wondering. Dad's been Dippin since before I was kickin. Wanna make some my own dip.

Workhorse_01 liked Copenhagen as far as I can tell. Here's one of his first recipes.


"Ok first test 6 tobacco leaves,one cup water, one tablespoon of sea salt, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon double acting baking powder(great value wally-world brand), 1/2 teaspoon natural hickory liquid smoke. boil everything but the tobacco flour 2 min. then turn down to low and add sived tobacco flour stir constantly 5 min. remove and with a table spoon press out water through a fine screen ( dont drink the tea !!!!!!! IT'S TOO STRONG) .Pack tobacco in to an old copenhagen can and wait a week ( I think ) I'll let you know. I tryed a small clump of the tobacco and WOW what a buzzzzzz ! about 5 x the first time i tryed cope so I'll wait the week or maybe two days. LOL"

i tried workhorses snuff... allthough i dont dip anymore,, i just wanted to see what home-made was like,,,,

it physically looked store bought.. and wasnt bad,

I'm growing several Brazilian plants this year, thanks to some great seed from P.O. Green, Knucklehead, DGBAMA and Bob! I did notice that there are several types listed at Northwood Seeds as well. Have you tried Black Mammoth? I've heard that this also is good for this, I just might try again this year.

Also, WLT is currently out of Mata Fina, but should get some sometime soon. Fire Cured and Dark Air are also listed in commercial brands, and http://www.WholeLeafTobacco.com has both of those in stock.

No, not really a big space here, but a corner lot, with 2 big areas to grow. Plus, as is common here in Arizona, a 5 ft concrete privacy wall built around the whole backyard. LOL, Brazilian is the number right after a Gazillion I believe. I believe it's out in space somewhere, they use it to measure far reaching galaxies.

Like Dave mentioned, according to U.S. Smokeless Tobacco, they use Dark Fire and Dark Air. I'd be willing to bet it's Dark Air. Dark Air has a peppery kick though once you get through whatever flavorings or additives are used. That peppery flavory is gone altogether by the time it becomes Skoal Classic (processing/flavoring)
