A little early, But I think we will get a early spring.
I went back to the peanut lids for starting seeds.
I put holes in the bottom of the lids to keep them moist in trays in case I forget to water thems.
Lights on 24 hrs. There in my solar hot water room 75+ degrees.
FTT Baccy Grow out seeds are on the side. Curious to see what the F/C type is like.

I also leave lights on full time until sprouted good, then put them on a time to match current sunlight hours.

BT -- If I remember correctly, you like to transplant to the larger pots. These two 1020 tray inserts may be an easier to work with alternative. #801 in the chart has 8 total cells per insert (fits in a 1020 tray), 4.85" x 4.85" x 2.33" deep. Also the #1801 is a nice looking insert. Total of 18 cells per insert. Each cell about 3" square. The Price isn't bad either. http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/product/traditional-inserts-hobby-pack/seed-starting

Looks good but no wonder the store didn't have any peanut butter. Looks like you've bought out the entire East Coast supply

Correct, Those cups last year was a PITA.
I am looking at using the 606 jumbo deep cells. 36 cells per tray and deep since they might end up in there longer than expected. Anyone use them?
I think I was able to get like 28 cups in a tray last yr. so I should have enough trays and lights.

I remember someone last year used the deep cell inserts. I can't remember who, but they worked great. Nice healthy seedlings and the roots still came out the bottom of the cell. Real good looking set up.

Cool, just ordered a case of 100.
Greenhouse megastore had the best pricing I could find 79 bucks shipped.
I told my kids I was planting the Whole front field 5 acres approx. They are not happy but tell me I don't have the energy anymore to do that many. They are right but I will let them suffer for a while.
When all these trays arrive they are really going to freak out.

I got my light setup done. This takes up much less space than the table I have been using for years.
I had everything so it didn't cost me a penny for a change.
I put the lights on the Christmas light timer So I don't have to remember to turn them on and off.

i need me a roomy set-up like that for my starting area,,,

right now im allready tight for space.

your soil sure is course for starting seeds. i like to use a layer of vermiculite on top,

i took this pic today.. it shows the advantages of the vermiculite,

I never had a problem starting seed . They seem to sprout on anything wet. I kinda use Bobs method.
I transplant when they start to sprout, 2 each in a cell I pull the runt a few weeks later.
The set up is like 1ft. Wide by 16 ft. Long.
The racks came from the big lots green house I bought last yr. I bought two.
Even tho the greenhouse blew away these racks were worth the money.
