Greetings.
I started rolling a couple days ago. Here's a photo blog of my progress:
http://homecigarschool.tumblr.com/
I'm using a 48-gauge mold I got from OneLeaf for around $50. I tried to find the same guy to make me a 38 mold on custommade.com, because I could see he was the guy who'd made the mold for leafonly, but he didn't seem to be doing work through custommade anymore. Another gal quoted me $150 for any ring gauge, 10-count mold. I'll leave that option in reserve.
For these cigars I've used the WLT Sabroso Medio kit. I got about 16 48-49-gauge 5" cigars out of that and today will use the 80g of scraps plus leftover small wrappers and binder to roll Cuban sandwich-type stuff.
Habana 2000 Wrapper
Dominican Cigar Binder
Nicaragua Habano Seco [equal parts]
Criollo 98 Viso [equal parts]
I got a cap cutting thing which is just a piece of pipe from leafonly, but the edges aren't filed down so it only helps make a ragged circle despite all my best efforts; I need to find a file to grind that thing down. Doing triple cap to start but eventually would like to figure out the Dominican method. As others here have pointed out the capping bit in rolling videos is typically impossible to figure out; but I did find a few that helped me figure out the middle cap of the triple a little bit better.
Hopefully these will taste pretty good eventually. I've got a couple more kits of other blends which I'll start on in a few days.
