Reiner Blend No 12.

We have snow here on the Alps... I admit my envy for the beautiful Athens weather.

Oh sorry, we have 24 C today but to be honest i miss the winter of '80s years when at Christmas he had snow back in my birthplace.

Gout De Murtille Doux.

There is that clever, pocket pipe rest again. Is it made with stitching, rivets or glue?

Bob

Thank you Bob. i use Stiches in purpose with an inclination, it's not vertical I but like this / so the pipe goes few mm ''down'' and nests better on it. I have measure it so it can accept all of my briar-pear and meer pipes but it's not enough for my gourd calabash [which after all are difficult to carry in the Cafe].

This evening, I unearthed a bag of about 2 ounces of shredded tobacco. The label says, "Harrow Velvet 2012 mid Cavendish". The pouch aroma is a soft "tobacco" smell, with no identifying character. It lights and burns beautifully. There is no bite. Smoke aroma is a faint, vague "burley", but enjoyable all on its own. Nicotine strength is medium.

If I recall correctly, this crop of Harrow Velvet recovered from several days of flooding, and never reached typical plant or leaf size. It fully yellowed in the field, then it was all air-cured. I assume it was made into Cavendish by steaming leaf in a colander nestled above a pot of boiling water. (But it might have been an unstemmed, tied hand stuffed in its entirety into a jar. I know I did that once.) A curious aspect of the Cavendish is that it has a supple texture, like an old, worn blanket.

Bad weather with the name '' Victoria '' in Athens today, many thunders-lightnings and rain late at night till the first morning hours. Damage to the Public Electricity network, home appliances [as TV's pc's], elevators etc and a lot of traffic on the roads. Happily things have calmed down and the phenomenon don't expect to be continued for second night in a row.

Lazy Man's Ebauchon

This wonderful poker sitter pipe was made by @Knucklehead, and sent to me as a gift quite a few years ago. What seems to be erupting from it is a sloppy ebauchon made by folding a full, frog-legged leaf of Bright Leaf Cavendish lengthwise several times, to about 1 inch wide, then rolling it tightly. [Picture folding a beach towel lengthwise, then rolling it.]

To fit it into my selected pipe, I peeled off a short bit of it, then jammed it into the bowl. Its tight draw was remedied with a few stabs of a stiff wire. It's lit like a cigar.

You could just as easily blend several partial leaves of different varieties.
