Yesterday I delivered to a massive dairy for their corn crop..( which they chop up to make "silage").. Well I seen a spot where they had spread some silage out..and it was littered with 4" mushrooms (they weren't the psychedelic type..I checked).....

I picked enough to fill up a 5 gallon bucket....I'm thinking of taking a shovel and chopping them up real fine and add it to my cow manure mix...

I don't think they would have any disease or anything that may be harmful to the mix..

Anyone got any info. If this is good or could be harmful???

Mushroom Compost is the left over soil from growing mushrooms:

"Often referred to as Spent Mushroom Substrate (SMS), Mushroom Compost is the growing medium that results from the mushroom growing process. Mushroom Compost is made from agricultural materials, such as hay, straw, straw horse bedding, poultry litter, cottonseed meal, cocoa shells and gypsum. Sphagnum peat moss adds to the organic nature of the substrate, providing a consistent, formulated and homogeneous product."

Plant shataki and oyster mushrooms in logs or bags with Wheat stalks, no compost. It works.

I'm not talking about how to grow a mushroom....I've done that before using a mason jar...ground brown rice.flour...and a hyperdermic needle to inject the spores into the growing compound...

Although I only did it once but my mushroom grow was sucessfull

If they were psilocybin mushies I could help but thats another story.
Id suggest if you want to learn about mushies, try getting the book "mushroom cultivator". It covers ALL of them and what materials you'll need and substitutes if you dont have something. Great book! :)
