Hey all,

I recently did my last transplant for my Gold Leaf Orinoco and Mopan Mayan plants. They're about 14'' tall and doing very well!

However, I noticed while planting them that it looks like some are starting to bud, and one has begun to open its flowers! I think that blooming is the last stage of their life cycle, so is my crop done? Must I start again next year?

Early bloom can be triggered be several stresses on the plant, even as simple as a sudden change of lighting conditions.

The good news is it's early in the season. When they finish maturing, harvest the leaves you do get, and cut the stalks about 6" above ground level. Many will grow a new main chute at our just above ground level, giving you a second plant (sucker crop) from the established root systems.

If your plants are already over a foot tall, I think you started them way too early. Here in Ahia, my plants would only have 4 or 6 leaves and still in 72 cell trays for another week and a half before they go in the ground.
