At a glance, the "5" gallon pots appear to be about a gallon greater capacity than your current pots. I say go with your current pots this year, then use the larger ones next year.

Nursery pots are a non-standard mishmash of insanity. There are 5-gal pots in tall, squat, azalea, and so on and so forth. An actual 5 gallon bucket is closer to #15 in nursery-speak. If they're root-bound, you could probably go up without disruption, but they're probably not there yet judging by the photos. You'd probably lose dirt from around the roots and they may be droopy for a few days. Really lovely plants!

Still haven't moved over to larger pots. Going to look into that this weekend. For now though, they seem to be doing just fine

And moved them over to 7 gallon pots!

They were definitely maxed out in their current locations.

Spent yesterday moving them over to the 7 gallon pots. More potting soil and added manure to the mixture as if I were planting tomatoes. Gave them a good soaking. Need a little more soil in a couple of the pots just for dressing it up and more moisture control, but nothing they can't do without for a day or two.

My back deck currently looks like this:

Nice work! Are you going to dump that soil in your garden? You totally should use it for something worthy at the end of the season.

I'm letting my best looking and largest leaf Connecticut Shade plant go to seed. I've topped the rest.

Now to learn more about drying and curing. I tried a few test leaves in my greenhouse, but I believe they dried too fast and too much. Dry and brittle to the touch. Not enough moisture I think.

Plan on trying to grow more. Going to have to take these off the deck and put them in an open area I have out back.

I'd love to know how these turned out for you Painthappy, especially the Criollo 98, Habano 2000??

These are two tobacco varietals I'd like to try myself for leaf to roll cigars with
