I grow pen red last year , and they seems to like my soil here (and last year was a disaster in growing aspects, little to cold and way to windy , wee had 2 summer storms with wind´s ower 28 m/sec (90f/sec)) , so decided to try US cigar varietys this year ,to see if my thoughts is right

I have not updated this blog as i intended to do , to much to do at work and other commitments to attend
Well here is my report so far this year
Transplanted them out to the patch in last days of may , a couple weeks later than thought to do
This year i only grow cigar varieties , almost , there was some perique (perique seed from chillardbee) plants sneaked in to
20160621_180819.jpg20160621_202029.jpg
Here , 21 of jun , 2.5 weeks after planting out , i have a fiber cloth to shade and protect them from frost the first weeks
20160702_163752.jpg
After one month they look like this , growth are incredibly in this patch
To the left , connecticut broadleaf , in middle svarr hibsman , to right connecticut shade

20160702_163715.jpg
The upper patch , placed about 1 meter higher (3 feet for you us boys) and not so great risk for frost dammage
4 row´s connecticut broadleaf (closest in pic) and 10 plants perique around the rubarbplant , not shaded with fiber cloth , perhaps a mistake from me , growth a little bit slower an developing not that good

20160713_193618.jpg20160725_143633.jpg
Just 12 days between this 2 pictures , in my "unproffessional" estimation , the biomass has increased at least 100% in this 12 day´s

Very nice shade shelter. Looking at that final picture, my brain had difficulty seeing what that tiny square is. That's a big leaf.

Also funny to see "Capstan Flake", haven't seen it in many years, don't known how often we had to search after my grandfathers tobacco when we did some thing one the farm.. Glasses and tobacco always got lost.. Hehe
