I don't intent to bore people... but I found two more pictures in the depths of my archives which probably illustrate my point better:
A young Samsun-Maden plant. What looks like a bare stem from further away has actually quite a bit of leaf lamina attached. Leaves are initially more spade / heart - shaped.
I older plants, leaves seem to elongate, and the leaf stem is very short.
The pictures I have seen of other Samsuns (i.e. "Black Sea Samsun") show a distinct heart shape and quite bare, longer stems in mature leaf.
Hence I wonder if they really are the same variety. I remember when I grew the ones above I was a bit surprised, since I expected something more Bursa-like.
