One drawback of using Mason jars for kilning is that it's tough to fit a tied hand of tobacco, or a string of leaf. My tied hands go directly into the kiln, hanging below a wire shelf near the top. Same with strings of leaves. When a tied hand comes out, it goes directly into a 10" x 30" poly-Nylon bag (still tied) for storage. A string of leaf that comes out of the kiln is removed from the wire string, then stacked flat--as whole leaf, and similarly stored in a poly-Nylon bag. The tobacco is stored in the bags in low case.
