I've got a field I've been thinking of doing a larger grow on. I don't have a tractor and was thinking of calling around some local (several would literally be next door neighbors) farmers to see if they'd plow up a 100x50 garden in it, and was wondering some ballpark prices you think would be reasonable. It's too much for me and a shovel and I've never had a tiller that can break new ground well here.

Anyone go down this road before?

I've never had to hire out but if you do make sure if he uses a 2 bottom plow that he goes over it with a cultivator. The best bet would be to find a farmer with a rototiller on his tractor. A 100 x 50 plot should take about 30 minutes (assuming 2 passes). I'm curious to know what the going rate is. Please report back if you find out.
