so then that's for curing tobacco? - i had assumed, not sure why though, that curing involved much higher temps

Is this then, a "maturing" accelarator? what's the effect of kilning the lemon virginia WLT sells?

When you take green leaf and hang it up to dry it is called curing. If you take cured leaf and heat to about 120F with high humidity it is called kilning. The kiln process just speeds up the natural aging process of already cured leaf. You don't need to kiln leaf. You can just let it naturally age for a year or two. With a kiln you can speed up the process considerably (4 weeks is typical).

WLT's Lemon and other flue cured varieties do not require any kilning as they are already heat treated way above what a kiln would provide. Flue cured is aged before it is sold. If you were growing your own and flue curing, there might be an advantage to using a kiln.
