Yup, Goose Creek Red is my favorite strain... I'm trying Shirey this year, but at the moment it seems weaker than GCR..
Beautiful plants Gav!

Hello Alpine, is the GCR you are growing as vigorous as the ones Gav has? I've been taking notes on strains that I see on threads that show fast strong growth and Gav's certainly are as well as the Delhi's being grown by ChinaVoodoo.

I think Gavroche's seeds are either from my last year crop or from or from Northwood Seeds. Which is, of course, the same thing since almost all my strains come from Skychaser! I found GCR to be a strong plant, very easy to grow and cure, with very little suckering. And it suits my taste very well too! The Shirey I'm growing this year doesn't seem as robust at the moment, but we will see.

Thanks Alpine, that's some good info to know. I looked at some GCR @ Northwood seeds earlier in the year trying to figure out which dark tobacco I wanted to grow. I am growing some Shirley as well this year. They are keeping up pretty good with the others so far. I am primarily a pipe smoker and I tend to like the stronger blends of commercial tobacco. Other dark varieties I'm growing this year are Small Stem Black Mammoth, Indian Black, Bolivian Criollo Black, and of course the Shirley as well. Have you grown any of these? Any input ya got would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Alpine.

Sorry Greenmonster, but I haven't grown any dark tobacco. I'm a cigarette smoker and never loved dark tobacco cigs like the old Gitanes or Gauloises caporal or the Spanish Ducados. Dark Virginia are similar to bright leaf in taste, only "deeper" or fuller bodied. lol I'm a disaster in describing flavors...

I ain't a smoker, does oral-snuff with my tobacco..I have been growing Small stalk Black mammoth and Bolivian black criollo, don't hold ether of them as a dark-Air/fire, don't have any idea but in my taste they are to "nice" tasting, alot of Swedish hobby grower have small stalk black mammoth as a favorite tobacco (even me) but I like Black mammoth better, the "small stalk" variant taste more like other Dark-Virginia types (to me) so I believe it is a dark-Virginia (but don't known for shore).. Bolivian black criollo is something different for me, I like it very much, it have something interesting in the taste.. My about favorite tobacco is Green biror, I think it alone gave me all the. Taste I have looking to find.. Sorry to say that I don't growing it any more (I sent my last seed to some one how should send me seed back when he had growing it, but no seed showing up after that).

Yes Gavroche Paul on northwest tobacco have it http://nwtseeds.com/Green Brior.htm but I like to make different mixes, like to be surprised..If I should just grow one variant it for shore would be interesting to bay it.. Paul have a lot of interesting tobacco so it's impossible to say that I not going to order it from him again, but as it seems right now I don't known if I have possibilities to grow tobacco for a while (perhaps need to move, so the future will show what I can and will grow).

Hasse, I'm having a hard time understanding. When I read about your comment concerning Black Mammoth I did some searching. All of the searches I did led me to the Small Stem Black Mammoth. I could not find anywhere where it said the SSBM was a variant of Black Mammoth. Do you have a link? I'm interested.

I see you are a snuff man and occasionally I too like snuff. Mainly because I do not smoke in my house and when I want nicotine I use it when I don't want to go outside in the cold or rain. I'd like to know your thoughts on the Green Brior. What do you like about it? I am growing some Indian Black, Bolivian Black, and some of the SS Black Mammoth. I've never made snuff of my own but I will probably give it a try later this year. If the Green Brior is a good one I'd like to add it to my list for next year. Thanks

Thank you Hasse

Orinoco is a big lazy person(sloth)! Yellow and gold leaf I sowed(scattered) the 04/04/17 and nothing this day! Those whom I already have in individual jars are very slow to push... It are the most beautiful aesthetically I find then they sound pretty and get ready for a long time...
