What type of wood for Cigar Press Mold?

What wood should be used for the inner interlocking part of the cigar mold?

I think my cabinet maker friend told me my mold was mahogany.

I've wondered if there is any consideration for the affect the wood would have on the flavor of the cigars. I suspect not since the relative surface area contact and time is small. All the resources I have seen suggest they only need to be in the press 30 minutes X 2.

being a lifelong woodworker and only a few years the cigar roller, I would assume to make a proper wooden mold the use of a "stabile"
wood such as mahogany, cherry or maple should be used. Probable to use poplar as well. Nothing too soft ,moisture intolerant nor resinous, definitely no aromatic red cedar as any of these could warp over a short period of use or impart an aroma or oil to the finished tobacco..

spanish cedar although a great wood for cigars is too expensive . Have to remember these countries are basically poor and use a cheap and readily available wood source. actually , it could be darn near anything...pallet wood even.
