Re: NRustica's 2012 fantastic grow log
Don't Tell Me That I Can't
[to the tune of "The Wabash Cannonball"]
No leaves. No weeds. Just soil and my plant.
With a hoe in hand and a bit of land, I'm working like an ant.
Now the IRS and the FDA, they say I shouldn't do it.
They claim to have true wisdom, but I already knew it.
CHORUS:
But I risked my life for freedom, so this ain't no idle rant.
I plan to grow tobacco. Don't tell me that I can't.
The nanny state is spreading. It sings its droning chant,
That citizens are ignorant--their understanding scant.
Treat them all like children, who don't know right from wrong.
Take away their choices, and then they'll sing our song.
CHORUS:
But I risked my life for freedom, so this ain't no idle rant.
I plan to grow tobacco. Don't tell me that I can't.
Government is limited in what it can supplant,
Regardless of the breathy pleas and anti-smoking slant.
It's in the Constitution, and in the Bill of Rights.
If you trample on our liberties, they're gonna be some fights.
FINAL CHORUS:
Better let me grow tobacco, or I'll slap you up side the head.
Cause I plan to grow the evil weed, 'til they tell me I am dead.
Yes, I risked my life for freedom, and this ain't no idle rant.
And I plan to grow tobacco. So don't tell me that I can't.
