Welcome on Fair Trade Tobacco :)
You can grow tobacco in Canada, if you want to be sure to have time to harvest you should use some strains that mature fast (people here will help you finding the right ones).

What kind of tobacco do you like ?

Interesting to see you here, I think you can find good help on this forum. To grow tobacco is both funny and interesting. I hope you will find some nice variants to grow.

Can you grow tomatoes? If so you can with varying issues which you'll iron out as you go along.

I am in Canada welcome I hope you had a chance to take advantage of the leaf sale. From reading the growers in Canada start there seeds inside and plant them at the may long weekend. Leaf takes time to age so depending on what you are smoking for me in general it takes a year. It may be better to buy some leaf first

Welcome to FTT. Tons of great info within these threads. Read all you can before you start growing. There's plenty of good folks here to answer your questions. WLT is a good place to obtain some leaf while your garden grows. I look forward to seeing your progress.

I grew 30-odd burley plants last season up here on the Gaspe, QC. If i can grow, you can grow too.
Burley types are a good choice for a first grow, since it air dries. No need to flue-cure.

Downside is, burley is too harsh to smoke alone and will need to be mixed with sweet, flue-cured Virginians at least 50/50 to be smokeable.
Moreover, Canadian tailor-mades never use burley --it's an American mix.
So, if you want canadian-style smokes, better think ahead to building a flue-curing chamber for the Virginia you'll grow.
You got room in your backyard for an old fridge or something that size?

Back to growing, need to start indoors with florescent light --I used the single-tube light over my kitchen counter.
Got to start early! Like germinate end of Feb. for a set by mid-March.
Thing is, wait too long, and plants won't flower til August. Set early, and plants could flower in July, much better.

Can get seeds from this Lady's garden centre in Ontario:

Good Luck!

Welcome to the hobby! As others have pointed out, the trick is to start them early indoors or a greenhouse.

Can't be said enough --start early. Germination can be finicky. May not sprout, two/three weeks can be lost too easily.
Me, i'm thinking of installing a new two-tube
florescent light for over my kitchen counter this new year.
Think the wife will like that.

Seed-wise, Deluxe pointed to Northwood Seeds in the States:

Tho, Elena's garden-centre is down the road from Tillsonburg.
She ships 2" starters right thru May, call to reserve:

Good Luck all, and have a very merry Christmass!

I saw the live plant 8 dollars I think is too much for one plant. Apartment or condo people have a hard time growing.

I agree. I was happy until I clicked the link. Apparently I'm growing hundreds of dollars worth of plants every year. Not.
