This video certainly has focus: just the cap, and specifically a pigtail cap. They are both beautiful, when you're done.

My own take on pigtail cigar heads is that they are the quick and easy way to finish a cigar, and are a technique that obviates a final cap. So, I suppose that I consider the methods shown in the video (and likely followed in some factories) to be a fanciful tribute to the heritage of a simpler approach, while maintaining a polished, cigar factory head. My pigtail heads are much uglier.

That is a pleasant way to think about it. I'd guess the heritage aspect would hearken back to home rollers rather than commercial, because I can't recall having ever seen commercial images of pigtailed cigars until maybe the 1960s with the Cohiba lancero and the like; and I make a habit of reading old-timey (19th c) tobacco journals (books.google) with woodcut print ads for cigars.
