Canada Day celebrates the unification of Canada under a Constitution. July 4, in the US merely celebrates the thirteen colonies telling Great Britain to take a hike. It wasn't until 13 years later (including 6 years of war) that we got around to ratifying a constitution. It's a day of introspection, Chinese fireworks, bier und bratwurst.

Happy Canada Day.

I did not know the difference. Thank you, Bob. We've got brisket.

Speaking of brisket, the thirteen colonies were unable to defeat the British, until French Royal Navy stepped in, and saved our bacon. We freed ourselves from the tyranny of an absolute monarchy by accepting (indeed ardently soliciting) the direct intervention of another absolute monarchy. Ah, well. All's well that ends well. (Didn't end so well for the French monarchy. The very year that the US ratified its constitution also saw the overthrow of Louis XVI.) History is so messy.
