While filling orders earlier, I noticed what a huge difference there is between the mid-rib base of a cigar wrapper and that of stalk cured Burley.
The wrapper was about 18" long and about 10" wide. The Burley was about 26" long and about 9" wide. You can see the cigar wrapper has harvested many weeks earlier than the Burley. I know the variety makes a difference, but this picture really tells the story of when to harvest wrapper leaf.
That shiny thing is a penny. The wrapper stem is one of about 30 leaves in that hand. That's a single stalk of Burley.
