Mid-day the temperature in the soil of all pots was 33°C so that would be about 91°F.
Except for the top few inches, soil temp (in a garden or field) is close to the mean ambient temp, averaged over days. It would be interesting to perform similar measurements of the soil adjacent to your successfully growing in-ground plants. I would imagine that 91° is seldom reached, with all the thermal buffering of surrounding soil.

I suspect that the whole pot is at 33C, the problem is that the roots cannot go any lower, actually slow cooking themselves.

Today I measured at several time intervals and the average temperature was 29°C.
Although the soil temperature might be an issue, I did not have this problem in Indonesia under similar circumstances.
I suspect the main issue (which might be due to the temperature partly) is that after transplanting the roots do not grow further into the container soil, but stay within the part of soil from the small pots they were in initially. I'm watering the new ones more regularly to overcome this.

If you start them in peat pots, they should be peeled off prior to transplanting.

Yes I peeled the roots off. But still they seemed to have had difficulty to hatch. Hope the batch of Broadleaf / Bursa has less difficulty...

In the meantime things in the finca are going steady.
Harvested four leafs this morning from rooftop, and two from the two largest at work, and two from the rustica.
Found a new place to dark air cure, at the dark back end storage of our warehouse.
Broadleaf seems healthy and happy.
Germination of other seeds are not going too great, although Sultan Albanian (think I got it from @Alpine) is germinating.
I grew that once before in Indonesia with very smokeworthy leaf.

Rooftop is far from thriving. Anyway, I do harvest some leaf from Xanthi.
Allthough small, the Bursa seems healthy-ish.
Broadleaf is deforming and not taking off.
Perhaps just some filler to blend with.
At the same time they've been hit by a little fly-spree.

On mature plants, flies like that are always dead from the nicotine.

Washing them off is a nuisance though.
Have picked a few leafs from rooftop plants, and plants at work.
Made a few pictures of the little field in the process.
I have a nice growing sucker on the largest Xanthi.
I am curing the leafs in one room for the first 10 days, then move them somewhere else.
One room should be a little more moist, the other a little warmer.

I've neglected the rooftop plants for most of there time, and it shows.
However, I did notice an interesting feature of the Bursa.
At some point the leafs started to grow twisted and stunted .
However, the newer leafs on the top of the plant, although small, look fine and unaffected.
Xanthi is almost done with priming, for what it's worth.

I think the rules don't apply when you use pots on a roof that might as well be venus. I grew bursa in a greenhouse a few years ago and they would have been 10' tall if it weren't for the roof, but the leaves were never that large.
While that deformity may be due to a viral infection, it may instead be do to environmental stress during a limited span of time.

Yes it may well be due to the conditions of the pot and of the venus-roof.
The little field at work is in much better condition though.
We almost finished picking the Xanthi and the Broadleaf is growing quickly.
We are having quite a bit of rain so I hope there'll be some sun to thicken the viso/ligero leafs.
Leaf size of the Xanthi is good, as being demonstrated by two of my office employees.
Found a new place to cure our leafs. Should be slightly higher humidity in this room.

Are you absolutely sure that those leaves held by your employees are Xanthi? Those are huge for a turkish strain! Or are the girls... ehr... not very tall?

These Xanthi leaves seem as big as the ones I got on the plants that I grew like traditionnal american strain (big spacing, fertilized and topped plants).
I still have to see how they smoke compared to the ones I grew more like orientals !

Ha yes I am absolutely sure. I received those Xanthi seeds from our silent forum member down under. I grew it in Indonesia and harvested seeds. Those girls are indeed not very tall, but the leafs are relatively tall. Used quite a bit of fertilizer, big spacing, topped and suckered very strictly.

I will give them a bit of time before putting them into a pile.
Had a little friend eating tobacco, both at home and at work.
Colleague of mine made a test-seedbed for Carmen Cubita and neglected it.
I'll probably just let it grow and see what kind of leafs we'll get from it.
Going to stalk harvest the suckers from the Xanthi, already have one semi-cured.
Started to hang the first Broadleaf as well.
Also have a little egg plant field going.
